M8 Bluetooth Issue
ProblemWhen I use a Bluetooth device with my HTC One M8 the phone will switch the audio source from the Bluetooth device to the handset during the conversation. I have tried restarting the phone, un-pairing and re-pairing the Bluetooth, doing a factory data reset, and even went to Verizon with the problem and got a new replacement phone. Still the same issue! Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: Have you tried replacing your Bluetooth device? The problem may not be with the phone itself but with the Bluetooth audio device. If the problem still occurs when using another Bluetooth audio device then follow the troubleshooting steps below.
First make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update. A new software update means that there are improvements and bug fixes included which may help solve this issue. To check for a new update go to >Settings > About > Software updates.
Next, delete the Bluetooth pairing between your phone and the device. Go to Settings > Bluetooth to do so. After deleting, try to connect again.
Finally, when naming your Bluetooth device avoid using special characters.
M8 Phone Calls Can’t Be Heard
ProblemHi there. My wife has an HTC M8 and recently, every phone call she makes or receives, she cannot hear anyone on the other end. When I have called her, I can’t hear her at all. This is only resolved by her putting her headphones in. We are located in the UK. Any ideas/solutions would be massively appreciated!! :) Many thanks.
Solution: From the way you described the issue there seems to be something wrong with the audio speaker of the phone. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking. Before bringing it though you should eliminate any possibility that the problem is software related. To do so you should do a factory reset on your phone. Make sure to back up your data first as this will be deleted in the process.
  • Turn off device
  • Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
  • Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
  • Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
Once the factory reset has completed try to make a call and see if you can hear the person on the other end.
M8 Multiple Issues After Android KitKat 4.4.4 Update
ProblemI bought my HTC one M8 month ago then yesterday it asked to update to Android kit Kat 4.4.4 so I agreed after the update the motion gestures is not working right as it should be and the camera doesn’t open when I flip the mobile in horizontal way and press volume button, also the lock screen widgets disappeared and I can’t get it back, I hope you help me with this issues. Thanks in advance.
Solution: Whenever you encounter issues right after a major software update on your phone it is always a good idea to do a factory reset. These issues may be caused by data from the old software version which is still in your phone and has not been completely removed. This causes a conflict with the new software version which leads to these issues. The best way to remove this old data is by performing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your personal data before proceeding as this will be deleted in the process.
M8 Does Not Connect to Email Server
ProblemI have a job that uses e-mail frequently—to the point that I need to have my email connected to my phone. I had recently gotten the HTC One M8 after I cracked the screen to my last HTC One (Not M8) severely. However, I cannot seem to get this phone to connect to a server. The email is a corporate one with its own domain, so I have to manually set it up. I have had my boss and a friend who is more tech-y than me look at it and they are stumped. The info is correct and everyone else with different phones seem fine but this phone refuses to connect to the server. Is this a frequent HTC One M8 problem?
Solution: Assuming that the settings are all correct and that your phone is connected to the Internet then the problem may be with the phone. This could be app related or system related.
If the problem is caused by the email app of your phone then clearing its cache and data will help. Take note that all the settings and emails in your phone will be deleted so be sure to make a backup.
  • From a home screen, tap Apps (located at the bottom).
  • Tap Settings
  • From the DEVICE section, tap App manager.
  • From the ALL tab, tap the Email app
  • From the Cache section, tap Clear cache.
  • From the Storage section, tap Clear data.
Try entering the correct settings for your corporate email and see if you can connect to it this time.
If you still can’t connect then try doing a soft reset by pressing and holding the Power key and Volume Up key for 10 seconds until the phone restarts.
M8 Not Getting Software Update
ProblemI own an HTC one m8. It is the AT&T version of the phone. I’m wondering why my phone hasn’t updated yet to KitKat 4.4.3. It has been a while since the update rolled out yet my phone is stuck on 4.4.2. I’d appreciate your guidance in this matter. Thanks.
Solution: If your phone hasn’t notified you of any software update yet then you can try checking for it manually. To check for a new update go to >Settings > About > Software updates. Just follow the prompts once an update has been found.
To verify that your phone has been updated follow the steps below.
  • Drag down the notification bar with two fingers, and tap Settings.
  • Scroll and tap About.
  • Tap Software information.
  • Tap More.
  • The following information displays: Software version: 1.58.502.1, Baseband version: 1.16.21331931. LA11G_20.31A.4145.02L, Build number: 1.58.502.1 CL335549 release-keys
