S4 Google Play Store Opens On Its Own
Problem: Any time I open any app most of the time right after I take it of screen lock…the first app I try to open it pops up the Google play store instead of the app I was trying get to….It’s been happening a while so could really pin it to certain apps I may have put on here at time it’s just getting aggravating.I’m not sure what operating system this this phone uses either…It’s a straight talk phone that uses att towers. I just need to know if there is a way to look up what’s causing it to make it stop..open to any suggestions. Thank you
Solution: Have you noticed if every time Google Play Store opens it directs you to a particular app to download? If it does then your phone could be infected with some form of adware. This usually occurs if you install apps from untrusted sources or click on the pop-ups that appear on your browser.
To resolve this issue try to check first if it is caused by some app installed in your phone. To do this you need to start your device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Try to open an app. If the Google Play Store does not open then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will permanently take out any adware that may be present in your phone.
To prevent this issue from happening in the future try to follow the tips listed below.
  • Only install apps from the Google Play Store. Although this isn’t a 100% sure way of preventing adware from entering your phone it is still one of the most secure ways of getting apps.
  • Consider getting a security app on your phone.
  • Avoid clicking on pop-ups that may appear in your browser or apps.
S4 Apps Freezes
Problem: apps freezes some minutes after i launch them. when i press the home key to minimise and maximise again. It stops freezing and continues working. i wiped the cache partition and it still persists. pls help me. i submitted my email address above.
Solution: One of the main reasons why an app freezes is because of some form of corrupt data in the app itself. Try clearing the cache and data of the affected app from the app manager then check if the issue still occurs.
Sometimes a faulty microSD card can also cause this problem especially if the app’s data is stored in this card. If your phone has a microSD card installed the try removing it.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 Apps Crashes If Wi-Fi Is Turned On
Problem: So i turn on the wifi, then my apps start crashing like 10 or more apps will crash. The apps and the Android system crash and they lag the phone, so i can’t do anything. The only way is to wait and then restart the phone. If i don’t connect to wifi there are no problems. But when i connect all the crashes happen in like 5-7 minutes. please help.
Solution: It appears that some form of corrupt data in your phone is causing this issue. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem persists then I suggest you perform a factory reset. Don’t forget to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
S4 Facebook App Videos Freezes
Problem: Facebook app videos are the problem on my GS4. I’ll click on them, it’ll play for 1-2 seconds and then it stops. I can’t resume, pause, rewind/FF. I have cleared all cache files, uninstalled, restarted, and re-installed the app and still the same thing. however, when facebook is opened via a web browser, there are no issues. I have the latest facebook app installed.
Solution: It appears that the app itself has a problem. Try to check if your phone is running on the latest software version ( must be on Lollipop). Update your phone software if necessary. If your phone is already running the latest version of Android then the issue could be caused by the Facebook app. As a temporary solution you could just access Facebook using Chrome. For a permanent solution I suggest you wait for the next update of the app to be released which should have a fix to this problem.
S4 Snapchat Has Stopped Working Error
Problem: Snapchat freezes my entire phone. A black box that says “snapchat has stopped working” . Even when I choose to close app my phone still freezes screen goes black. I have to take my battery out.
Solution: If this issue only occurs on the Snapchat app then the app could have a problem. Try clearing the cache and data of this app. This deletes the temporary data stored by the app which could be causing this problem. If you are still experiencing the same issue then uninstall the app then download a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
S4 Downloading Accuweather From Other Source
Problem: accuweather was giving erroneous information. uninstalled it and am hesitant to use Google play to download new version. Don’t understand why I need to use Google play. Is there another  way?
Solution: I strongly suggest that you download apps only from the Google Play Store to minimize the possibility of malware infecting your phone. If you must download apps from other sources then you could try the Amazon App Store.
Since the issue you are having with Accuweather is the information it provides then this could be caused by other factors and not by the app itself. Make sure that the app has the correct settings for your location. This app needs a good Internet connection to work so make sure your phone is online as well.
