Samsung Galaxy S5 keeps restarting on its own, won’t recognize SIM card
System issues are among the most common problems reported by our readers. Ever since we started supporting the #Samsung #GalaxyS5, we received hundreds of those problems and I included some of them in this article. Issues like random and/or frequent reboots, SIM card recognition/detection error and getting stuck while booting up always make it to the top ten list. Read on to learn how to tackle these issues.

Other problems I cited here include glitches after turning off multi-window mode, sec.abt service sucking up the battery and issues after successful rooting process. I provided some explanations as well as recommendations on what to do if they occur. Galaxy S5 keeps restarting on its own, won’t recognize SIM card
ProblemPhone keeps restarting by itself and won’t recognize SIM card after being restarted. But if I pull out the SIM and the battery and leave the phone for a day, and then reassemble, it will recognize the card (and not restart by itself) and I will be able to receive texts but cannot use internet unless it’s on Wi-Fi.
I did a factory reset (after backing up data) to attempt to fix this issue but now it says it cannot restore the data, stating a network error, despite having a working Wi-Fi connection.
Answer: Okay, what made your problem so complicated is that you mixed everything up. So, let me itemize them for you:
  1. The SIM card may need replacement or it may be loosely mounted that’s why you’re getting a prompt about it not getting recognized.
  2. When your phone can recognize the SIM card, you can do text messaging but no internet. Maybe mobile data was turned off or the APN wasn’t properly setup.
  3. As to the restoration of your data, I’m not sure the method you used in backing them up but it seems to me you can actually restore them if you had an active internet connection.
Based on that, here’s what you should do:
  1. Make sure the SIM is properly mounted. If you still get the same error, then call your provider and ask for a SIM card replacement. The entire process may take 5 to 15 days but if that’s what it takes to get a better service, then it’s worth it.
  2. If your SIM card is fine and you still can’t get internet access if you’re not on Wi-Fi, then verify that mobile data is enabled. If it is, check the APN settings. You may call your provider to ask for the correct APN for you phone.
  3. Lastly, to restore your data, make sure you have an active internet connection and sync the account you used before.
I hope this helps.
