M8 Picture Message/Music Issues
Problem: Have had a new out of the box m8 for about 6 months and for the last few days I have not been able to send pic messages. It will say invalid destination. Also my music player (the one already on the phone) cannot play with earbuds, it will skip to other songs and skip like a CD. It works fine on its own or with external speakers. Weird, any ideas of what might be wrong? Otherwise phone is a champ.
Solution: For the picture message issue try turning off your phone then take out the SIM. Reinsert the SIM and turn on your phone after a minute. This will refresh your phone to your network.
If the issue still persists then your next step is to clear the cache and data of your messaging app. You should make a backup copy of any important messages that you may have stored in your phone.
- From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
- Scroll to and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and tap Apps.
- Swipe to the ALL tab.
- Scroll to and tap the Messages application.
- Scroll to and tap Clear cache.
- Scroll to and tap Clear data.
For the music player issue try using a different pair of earbuds and see if the issue still persists. If it doesn’t then the earbuds you are using may already be defective.
M8 SMS Notification Issue
Problem: Hello. Every time I get a notification, my notification sound keeps going off until I clear it. Really annoying. I tried restarting my phone & uninstalling/reinstalling my messaging app. (chomp sms) This just started happening yesterday and I’ve had this app for awhile. Any other suggestions? Thanx much!
Solution: There may be an update to the app that is causing this. You may have to wait for the next update of the app for this to be resolved. You may also want to try checking if the notification of the stock messaging app is turned off. If it isn’t then turn it off and restart your phone.
M8 Play Music Issue
Problem: Hey droid guy, I’ve had my M8 for awhile now and I keep noticing that when my Play Music app is running and I’m listening to music whether it be through headphones, speakers, or in my car, when my screen goes off and my phone “sleeps” the music fades. Then when I unlock my phone the music gets louder and returns to the sound quality and intensity it was at before my phone went to sleep. Any idea how to fix this problem? Thanks!
Solution: Have you tried using a different music app and checked if the issue also occurs? If it doesn’t then this is most likely caused by a glitch in the Google Play Music app itself. You will need to clear the cache of the app to delete any corrupt temporary data that may be causing this.
- From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
- Scroll to and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and tap Apps.
- Swipe to the ALL tab.
- Scroll to and tap the Google Play Music application.
- Scroll to and tap Clear cache.
If the issue persists then I suggest wiping the cache partition of your phone.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Down key.
- Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
- Continue holding the Volume Down.
- Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
- Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
- Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
- The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
- Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
- Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
- Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
- Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
- Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.
M8 Facebook Stopped Working
Problem: Hi, I seem to be unable to “post” anything on facebook, it says “facebook has stoped working”. Is this an HTC M8 problem ? Or a facebook problem? Regards.
Solution: This is a Facebook app issue. Just uninstall the app then download and install the same app from the Google Play Store.
M8 Notification Issue
Problem: Hello, I have been having an issue with my One M8, I love it but whenever I’m using my data, I don’t receive notifications unless I open the applications. I have triple checked that “restrict background data” is off for all apps. No matter what, for things such as snapchat, it will never notify me. With Whatsapp, I receive them, but not always, I have to check back to see if I receive anything, then when I open it, the messages come in. If I do use snapchat on data, then when I connect to wifi, all the snapchats I received when I was on data, I will receive constant notifications for them when I get home, even if they are old notifications. Please help me! Thank you
Solution: It looks like there is an issue between your phone and your mobile network. You should try doing a soft reset to reconnect your phone to your network. To do this just press and hold the power key and volume up key for 10 seconds. Your phone will then restart.
M8 Website Reloads Automatically
Problem: Lately I’ve been having problems with websites reloading while reading. I’ll get a paragraph or so into the article and the page will refresh and it’s nearly impossible to get to the bottom of the page. Any ideas?
Solution: This issue usually occurs when you visit a website that is designed to auto refresh. If you would like to stop this then you may want to try disabling the JavaScript setting of your browser. Take note that this may affect the way you browse certain websites. If you are using the stock browser click on the three dots on the upper right side then click on settings. Go to Advanced then make sure that there is no check mark on “Turn on JavaScript”.
M8 Displaying Battery Charging Icon Even If Not Charged
Problem: For two days in a row my phone is displaying battery charging icon and it isn’t even plugged to a charger can you explain this? also at the same time I loose internet page service and need to reboot.
Solution: For the charging issue you should first check if there is any dirt or lint present on the charging port of your phone. If you spot any then clean it. If the issue persists then do a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.
- Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
- Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
- Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
If the issue persists then this may already be caused by a faulty charging port. You should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
As for your other issue of the Internet service, the factory reset will is one way of fixing the problem. You should also check if your phone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
M8 Right Side Of Screen Not Working
Problem: Hey recently my letters over to the right side of screen don’t work. Actually nothing on that side does. If I want to type the letter p I have use suggestion box then delete other letters around it. Tried calibration and factory reset with no luck. Any help be appreciated.
Solution: If the factory reset fails to resolve this issue then your phone may have a defective digitizer. You should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking and repair.
M8 Mobile Data Turns Off When Phone Sleeps
Problem: Mobile data shuts off when my screen gos to sleep. Stays on when I am using the phone, but will shutz off when there is any inactivity longer than about a minute. I have checked every setting I can think of, done a soft reboot and made sure the box that would cause the mobile data to go off when the device go’s to sleep is not checked. This is a new problem that is only occurred within the last few weeks. I have also tried turning off the power saver but no change. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Solution: If all your phone settings are correct and the issue still occurs then this may be caused by a glitch in the software. A factory reset will help resolve this issue. Just make sure to back up your data first before performing this procedure.
