Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Add / Remove your Samsung, Google accounts, update information, turn on syncs
Since you own a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (#GalaxyS7Edge) and its manufacturer offers apps and features exclusive to #Samsung devices only, you will need to have a Samsung account to access them. You can use any email address you have but it is better that you use your Google account as well so it will be easier to remember.
So, in this post, I will walk you through in doing the following:
- Adding Samsung Account
- Adding Google Account
- Updating Samsung Account Information
- Turning on Syncs for each account
- Removing an account

HOW TO ADD A SAMSUNG ACCOUNT
Since Samsung has it’s own apps and market, you will need to have a Samsung account to download, install and update those apps. Aside from this, it’s the same account you would use in tracking your device in case you lost it using the company’s Find my mobile service. With it, you can remotely lock / unlock or wipe your device clean. So, you need to learn how to add your account to your new phone:
- Tap the Apps icon from the Home screen.
- Find and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and touch Accounts.
- Touch Add account.
- Since you’re adding a Samsung account, touch the first option.
- Now enter your username and password.
- Hit SIGN IN.
- If you want to receive Samsung offers and other marketing stuff, hit AGREE, otherwise, touch LATER.
Note: If you don’t have a Samsung account just yet, hit the CREATE ACCOUNT instead of entering your username and password and you’ll be redirected to a different page for creation.
HOW TO UPDATE YOUR SAMSUNG ACCOUNT INFORMATION
Now that you know how to add or create your Samsung account to your new S7 Edge, it’s also good to know how to update your information to even personalize it. You can actually information such as your birth date, full name, addresses, phone numbers, billing information (for Samsung Pay), change your password, and add devices information. Here’s how you do it…
- Tap the Apps icon from the Home screen.
- Find and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and touch Accounts.
- Touch Samsung account.
- Tap Profile.
- Enter your password and hit CONFIRM.
- Touch the tab you want to update. You may then tap the “pencil” icon for each entry you want edited or updated and hit confirm every time you’re finished updating.
- If you’re done updating, hit CLOSE.
HOW TO ADD A GOOGLE ACCOUNT
Your new Galaxy S7 Edge is an Android device running Google’s operating system. Needless to say, you need a Google account to access system-related stuff and to download apps from the Play Store. It may also be the same account you would use for your Gmail as well as. More importantly, you need the account just in case you tripped the Factory Reset Protection (FRP). So, you need to take it very seriously and you must always know your username and password.
- Tap the Apps icon from the Home screen.
- Find and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and touch Accounts.
- Touch Add account.
- Now touch Google.
- Enter your Google email address and touch NEXT.
- Enter the password to your Google account and hit NEXT again.
- Agree to the terms and conditions by touch AGREE.
- Read the information about Google’s privacy policy and if you want, you may check the option ‘Automatically back up device data’ and hit NEXT.
Note: If you want to create an account, touch the link ‘Or create a new account’ instead of entering a username. You will then be brought to a different page.
HOW TO TURN ON SYNCS FOR EACH ACCOUNT
Now that you’ve setup your accounts, it’s better to turn on syncs for each of them especially if you have data you want updated account-wise. For instance, if you want to sync your calendar schedules with your Samsung account, you may turn on the sync for Calendar under your Samsung account. All you need to do is this…
- Tap the Apps icon from the Home screen.
- Find and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and touch Accounts.
- Choose an account.
- For every information you want synced, tap the switch on the right to turn it on.

HOW TO REMOVE AN ACCOUNT
Just in case you don’t know how to remove the account you’ve setup in your new device, just follow these steps:
- Tap the Apps icon from the Home screen.
- Find and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and touch Accounts.
- Choose which account to remove. In this tutorial, let’s remove a Google account.
- Inside the Google account page, touch MORE on the top-right corner.
- Choose Remove account.
- Confirm your action by tapping on REMOVE ACCOUNT on the dialog box.
